Ceuta and the online gambling industry: confidence and uncertainty in a changing environment
Santiago Asensi, Managing Partner and Founder of Asensi Abogados, attended the Fórum Europa breakfast briefing organised by Nueva Economía Fórum at the Four Seasons Hotel in Madrid, featuring Juan Jesús Vivas, President of the Autonomous City of Ceuta.
The meeting came at a particularly relevant moment for Ceuta and for the online gambling companies operating from the city. In recent years, Ceuta has consolidated its position as an important hub for the sector, supported by an institutional and fiscal framework that has encouraged companies to establish and develop their operations there.
Against the current backdrop, uncertainty remains one of the main concerns for international online gambling companies based in Ceuta. While the incentives available to operators remain in place and continue to expand, attention is also focused on how the situation may affect the day-to-day lives of employees and their families.
The institutional support provided by Ceuta has been a key factor in the development of the sector in the city. This close relationship between the local authorities and the industry continues to provide confidence at a time when companies are assessing how the current circumstances may evolve.
The event also provided an opportunity to reaffirm support for Ceuta and its institutions, as well as confidence in the city’s ability to continue providing a stable and attractive environment for the online gambling industry.
Asensi Abogados, which opened its Ceuta office in December 2024, continues to closely follow the development of the sector and the evolving environment for online gambling companies operating from the city.
